Also! Big congratulations to the winners of the Memento Mori album cover contest! Dirick and Ricardo both had awesome entries, and they’re going to get some cool prizes in the mail pretty soon. :D All of the entries will be added to a special page of FlyleafOnline.com very soon.
We just got back from seeing Flyleaf at Soulfest, which was pretty great. It was our first time seeing them at a Christian Festival. Lacey had a lot of great stories that she told during the show about Fully Alive, Believe in Dreams, and their cover of You Are My Joy. Instead of singing I Love You, Lord, they opened with Oh Lord, To You. You can watch that here.
As far as site updates go, the chart history page has been updated. In addition to that, I added the Denver show to the live audio page, and a couple clips of Lacey on Open House on the radio audio page thanks to Noel.
About 3 new wallpapers were uploaded thanks to Elise and Shane. You can view those here. A few new pieces of fanart were also uploaded thanks to Wesley.
Here’s a new interview where the band talks about how long they’ve been together, how they’re writing for the new album, and why they wanted to do the Rock Corps show.
Alrighty, time for a quick update. The chart history page was updated again. The band has been continually moving up on the Pop charts lately, which is awesome. They’re up to #24 on Top 40 and #18 on Pop 100 Airplay.
In addition to that, some more videos from Tink’s have been uploaded including I’m Sorry, Sorrow & Penholder.
Caleb and I will be showing up at the Delaware acoustic performance tomorrow afternoon, as well as the show at the Electric Factory show tomorrow night. Say hi if you see us. :]
According to the Flyleaf Street Team, the video for Sorrow will premiere on MTV2 Unleashed tomorrow, April 26th. You can catch it at the top of every music hour starting Saturday morning or on MTV2.com. As soon as we can, we’ll also have the video available here on Flyleaf Online for download along with caps for graphics.
This might be old news to some of you, but Flyleaf’s 2008 Tour Merch is now available on their Online Store. There’s some nice stuff up there, so everyone should check it out.
In the band section, I updated a few of the tour dates as well as the chart history. All Around Me has been moving up the pop charts steadily. It’s currently up to #24 on Top 40, #64 on the Hot 100 and #23 on Pop 100 Airplay.
As far as fan/media updates, we have a new piece of fan art thanks to Nichola. It’s a really awesome portrait of James. In addition to that, there are 4 new videos from Tink’s in Scranton, PA.
Today (April 19, 2008) was Record Store Day. Flyleaf sent out an email alert letting everyone know that the Much Like Falling EP was going to be available in local record stores today, and today only. Thanks to Jake, we have scans of the EP.
In the band section, I added a lot of tour dates and some video information on Sorrow. More will be added once we know more about it. In addition to that, the chart history page has been updated heavily. All Around Me has been doing really well on Top 40. It’s at #26 right now. The song has also been doing really well on other pop charts.
I have lots and lots of updates tonight, starting with the chart history page. Breathe Today has moved up a few spots to #36 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. In addition to that, the tour page has been updated with new dates. Flyleaf will be playing a few Christian festivals this summer including Creation and Sonshine. I added a show count to each year, and a total one to the main tour page as well. After tallying them all up, the band has played over 550 shows since 2002 that I’ve logged in the tour section. I’m sure there’s more that I don’t have, but still. That’s crazy.
In the media section, I’ve added a few new interviews with radio stations that the band has done. We also have a new wallpaper thanks to Marley. As promised, the entire Columbia show has been posted. A big thanks to Spree for shooting that, and uploading it. Also, a new interview with James for Vic Firth has been uploaded.
The fans section has been updated with a brand new tattoo thanks to Jenn. A few new pieces of fan art have also been added thanks to Mooncownow, Nichola and Hope.
Quick album/chart update: The band is up to 938,745 albums sold, and 985,000 shipped. Only a couple more weeks for 1,000,000. :D Also, Z100, the biggest pop station in the country, has added All Around Me to their rotation. From what I understand, it’s being played quite a bit too.
I also come bearing media updates tonight. I actually got off my butt and made some graphics for the site. First, I added a new set of signatures made from caps from the Special Edition CD/DVD. There’s one for each band member. I also made a set of 6new wallpapers. There’s a full band one, as well as one for each member.
As far as videos, I’m working on the Columbia show that Spree recorded, so that should be up next time. For now, I’ve added 2 new interviews from Cornerstone 2007 and The Zone in 2006. Both of the videos have either Sameer or Lacey talking about the band’s faith in depth, which is really awesome.
On the fan art page, I also added 2 iPhone wallpapers that Bill did. Big thanks to him for sending those in.
The amazingly awesome 4 song acoustic set shot by Geordy is now up in the video section. The videos are really nice, and the audio is great. Sameer and Lacey did Sorrow, I’m So Sick, Cassie and There for You. Everyone should check them out. :D
The chart history page has been updated again. The band is up to #11 on the Top Modern Rock/Alternative Albums chart, and Breathe Today debuted at #39 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Their album count is 980,000 shipped and 931,400 sold. Only 20,000 to go. :D
A new fan tattoo has been added thanks to Brit. Her story is really nice, so you should take a look. The fan testimonials page has also been updated with 6 awesome stories.
Okay, Breathe Today is not the next single. Here’s what happened, in order to show appreciation to the radio stations that have been playing Flyleaf a lot, Octone/A&M sent out Breathe Today and Fully Alive acoustic versions to say thank you and here’s some extra stuff. It’s too soon to release another single, but they are thinking about which one will be next – it’s just really up in the air between 3 songs. So, there wont be another music video for a long time and I can’t see them releasing another single until after the new year for sure.
That is what management told us! :) — Kat Hartmann
So All Access confused us, but now we have the real story thanks to Jared’s wife, Kat Hartmann. :D
In other news — in the media section, a brand new MySpace Layout has been added. I figured it was about time for a new one. I’ll most likely be working on more sometime soon. To view it, you can click here.
The chart history page was also updated. The band sold over 10,000 records last week. :D I also updated the tour page with a few new dates.
Congratulations to Karla, Candy, and Derrel for winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Flyleaf Online Karaoke Contest. The winners have been notified through email. Thank you to everyone who joined, and everyone who voted. Everyone did really awesome. :D The next contest will be up soon.
In the second week of sales for the Special Edition CD/DVD, Flyleaf sold over 10,100 copies. That brings them up to 930,000 shipped. They’re also currently #88 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
In the media section, 3 more videos from the MySpace Secret Show in Raleigh, NC were posted. You can view those here. Thanks again to Spree for shooting those videos. I also added a few new icons to the icons page from the new photoshoot. If you guys have anything to donate to the media section, feel free to hit me up. I’ll post it in the next update.
Flyleaf sold over 13,000 copies of the Special Edition CD/DVD in the first week. They jumped 59 spots on the Billboard Top 200 chart up to #62. The album has been on the charts for over 80 weeks, which is amazing. So congratulations to the band on a job well done. The DVD performances and acoustic audio…all beautiful and touching. You should really check it out if you haven’t already. It was on sale for $11.99 and $14.88 at Best Buy and Walmart respectively, and is available online at iTunes for $9.99.
I added around 15 songs to the radio today, and reorganized the entire thing. It’s now separated into 3 sections; Acoustic, Live and Studio. The additions were made only the acoustic and live sections. The radio information page will be updated with where to get the stuff for download/purchase soon.
In the media section, I added a few new things. The entire AT&T Blue Room show is now linked on the Pro-Shot Live page. I’m not going to be offering those for download since I don’t want to get sued by a big company. ‘Cuz that would suck. But I did add some videos from the MySpace show shot by Spree. Those are available here. Thanks to Spree for shooting those, and to Caleb for making the streaming versions.
In other news, an acoustic EP was released on Rhapsody recently. Information about it is available here and you can purchase it here.
News just in — All Around Me will be going to Top 40 and pop radio formats. Between this and the reissue of the album, the album might be pushed to platinum sooner than we might have thought. A lot more fans seem to be catching on, which is awesome.
As far as general site news — Flyleaf Online has been extended to YouTube. I created a profile for the website, and will be uploading videos steadily over the next while to make the profile complete. That way you can embed Flyleaf Online videos on your MySpace’s or personal sites if you ever had the inclination to do so.
The page with information on the Flyleaf Radio songs has been brought back, and it’s been fully updated with the new tracks. Hopefully that helps some of you that have been wondering where they all came from.
In the media section, three more videos have been added from the Hartford, CT show. Currently, we have over 220 Flyleaf videos hosted on our site, which is kinda cool.
1) Marshall University (472 people)
2) Liberty university (429 people)
3) Glendale Community College (380 people)
4) Texas A&M (379 people)
5) California State University, San Bernardino (357 people)
The Flyleaf Karaoke Contest Voting has begun. Please read the rules before casting your vote. Good luck to everyone that entered. :D
The band section has been updated with some new chart numbers. All Around Me has peaked at #6 on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart, and the album recently went up to #59 on the Top 200 which is awesome. In addition to that, a new interview with Jared was posted on the articles page.
A few more videos have been posted up from the Hartford FVT show that Ali recorded. Thanks again to her, and to Caleb for editing.
Also — not really huge news, but Doug [AM/Octone's ST manager] let me redesign the header banner for the Flyleaf Street Team, which I thought was cool. If you haven’t joined up there yet, you should consider it. FanCorps has just released a store system where you can exchange store credits for Flyleaf related items. It’s still in it’s beginning stages, but it’s a cool concept. There’s also a lot of other new stuff, but you can read about it if you join.
Okay — now that all the kinks have been worked out with the new layout, it’s time to update.
The karaoke contest submission portion has ended. Thank you to everyone who entered for the contest. Keep a look out on the contest page for details of what’s to come next as far as judging.
In the band section, the discography got completely redone. The old setup didn’t mesh well with the new layout, so it had to be reconfigured. In doing that, I also updated the singles page with some new stuff. I also created a new page to keep track of all of Flyleaf’s current merchandise. On that page you can find CD’s, posters, watches, hoodies, shirts, etc. In addition to that, the chart history page was updated as always.
The media section was updated with some new videos from the Hartford Family Values show. A big thank you to Ali for shooting that and to Caleb for editing.
Flyleaf will be embarking on a large European tour spanning over 15 countries in early 2008. They’ll be touring with Korn and Deathstar. All of the dates that have been announced have been posted on the tour page. Also, some miscellaneous headlining shows in the US have been posted as well for late 2007.
Flyleaf is nominated in the CCM Reader’s Choice for Best Band of ‘07 and Best Hard Music of ‘07. To vote for the band, visit this link and fill out the survey.
Just a reminder to everyone who wants to enter the Flyleaf Online Karaoke Contest; the contest ends on September 30, 2007. So get your submissions in before the deadline if you want to be up for some cool prizes.
Flyleaf will be playing a secret show on September 12, 2007 at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, NC. If you’re in that general area, you should consider going to the show. It’s absolutely free of charge. The ST has had us promoting the show, so that’s how we know it’s official. Otherwise, it’s been a well kept secret. Go to the show and support the band if you’re nearby!
In other news, the official merch site has been updated with new shirts and a new hoodie. The band also has a page on SayNow.com where they post voicemail messages from the road.
In the media section, I finally added the audio from the Rolling Stone Acoustics since they’re no longer available for purchase. In addition to that, some new videos were added. 3 new live videos from Atlanta thanks to Spree, and 1 amazing interview from Music Choice’s Fresh Crops thanks to Josh.
In the internet section some new affiliates were added including a brand new Flyleaf site called Flyleaf Web. So go show Justin some love and visit his site.
A reminder to those who want to donate something to the Scrapbook Project: I’m going to be putting another book together between this and next weekend to give to the band at the Scranton, PA Tink’s show on September 18th. So if you want to be included in the next book, please email me your submission soon.
Lots of site updates today guys. Prepare yourselves. :P
In the band section, the chart history page has been updated as always with new numbers. The band is up to #11 on the Top Modern Rock Track chart, and up to #65 on the Top 200. The album has been on that chart for 75 weeks so far, which is awesome. In addition to that, the FAQ has been updated with information about Tina, and more about Lacey’s tattoos for those of you who are interested. The Blast From The Past page has also been heavily updated.
In the media section, 11 new wallpapers were added on the donated page. Thanks to everyone that sent some in. :D On the video page, we put up Flyleaf’s appearance on Rock the Deuce. That can be found in the interview section. Spree also sent in some amazing live videos from the Atlanta Family Values date that we’ll be adding up in a couple days. So look forward to those. The audio section also got a facelift. It’s much easier to navigate now. I’m thinking about having a feature where you guys can stream each audio file as well as being able to download it. If you’re interested in that feature, let me know in a comment and I’ll see what I can do. :]
The fan section was updated with a couple of new tattoos from Cate. In addition to that, the Flyleaf fanlisting has over 600 members now. If you haven’t joined already, you should check it out. :]
As far as miscellaneous site updates go, I upgraded the gallery software and modified the templates. Now it has updates at the bottom of the main page, and a chunk of statistics. I also added a form to the bottom of the right sidebar where you can sign up for the Flyleaf Online Newsletter. Every month or so, I’ll be sending out updates on the band that include videos, pictures and anything else relevant. So feel free to sign up for it. :]
Thanks to everyone who sent in stuff for the karaoke contest. Everyone is doing great so far. The prizes are a lot cooler this time around, so if you haven’t already, check out our contest and consider joining. :D
Jared posted a new blog on the band’s MySpace where he talked about the new album amongst various other things. For those of you who don’t visit their MySpace, here’s what he had to say about it:
Lacey started writing a new song using Garage Band. It sounds really cool so far. We’ll all get together and work on it when we get a chance, she only has 2 or 3 lines written, but it seems cool so I’m excited about working on it.
As for when our new cd will come out, we’re really not sure right now. Hopefully we will get to start recording it at the beginning of next year, and we’ll have it out early 2008 – it’s just so hard to tell though because we are touring so much. We have been working on writing a lot though and we have about six or seven songs we’re working with and a couple of more ideas to go from. Maybe we’ll get to put one or two of our really old songs on the new album, and we’ll change them a bit. We really don’t know…but we’re REALLY looking forward to getting to write it.
In addition to that, the charts page has been updated. The band is up to #17 on the Hot Modern Rock chart, #66 on the Top 200, and #20 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. They’ve also sold over 702,000 albums, and shipped over 743,000. They’re getting up there towards platinum, so that’s awesome. :D
The gallery got a makeover a few minutes ago. It’s now purple and features a new photoshoot picture of the band.
The new Flyleaf Online contest has now started. Since you guys requested it, the theme is a karaoke contest. I provided 3 karaoke tracks for everyone to sing along to, and all the details are on this page. An instrument related cover contest might come along in the future, as well as the other ideas you guys suggested. Thanks for all of the ideas. :]
I also tweaked the layout a little and made it a little more colorful with a new header image. I hope everyone enjoys it a little more now.
The band section was updated with some new chart numbers as well as some new tour dates that the band will be playing in September.
